NOC 167 (Melvin Samuels Jr - American)
Born in 1960
NOC 167 is an artist of the second generation of "Wild Style" - more three-dimensional, fluid and dynamic lettering. His art exploded onto the Graffiti scene, which was gaining notoriety in the late 1970s and early 1980s in New York. His work appeared on over 200 subway cars, on various murals and in the credits of Charlie Ahearn's cult film Wild Style. NOC 167 grew up in the Bronx and was introduced to art through comic books, video games and classes at the School of Visual Arts. His work has been exhibited at New York's New Museum, New York's Fun Gallery and New York's Sidney Janis Gallery, among others.
