Ghost galerie works with collectors on the acquisition and sale of works of art, as well as on the development of their collections.
ACQUISITIONS
Our search extends beyond works publicly available for sale. We also identify works held in private collections and, where possible, explore the possibility of an acquisition.
Each work is considered in relation to its place within the artist’s practice, its provenance, condition, exhibition and publication history, as well as its position in the market.
We work with collectors from the identification of a work through the negotiation of terms and completion of the transaction.
PRIVATE SALES
COLLECTION ADVISORY
We advise on the formation, development and evolution of private collections, with particular attention to the coherence of the collection and the significance of each work within it.
This may involve an acquisition, the sale of selected works, or a broader consideration of the evolution and transmission of a collection.
RESEARCH & DUE DILIGENCE
We distinguish established facts from those that remain to be documented: provenance, condition, exhibition and publication history, and documentation relating to authenticity.
Where necessary, our research draws on relevant archives, foundations, authentication committees, galleries, conservators and specialists.
MARKET INTELLIGENCE
Price and value are not always synonymous.
We analyse auction results, documented private transactions, relevant comparables, price history, the availability of works and the artist’s institutional recognition.
This analysis places a work within its context and informs decisions regarding acquisition, negotiation or sale.
