Lin Felton aka Quik est né en 1958 à New York. Membre actif du RTW Crew, il a évolué aux côtés de Basquiat, Keith Haring, Seen ou encore Futura et a imposé les quatre lettres de son blaze sur les trains de la grande ville. Dans les années 1980, il faisait parti des writers les plus déterminés à ensevelir la grisaille ferroviaire sous la couleur des bombes. Après avoir étudié trois ans à la Parsons School of Design, Quik se fait remarqué par Yaki Kornblit, un marchand d’art hollandais. C’est ce dernier qui l’incite à rejoindre l’Europe et c’est sur le vieux continent qu’il réussit à s’affirmer en tant qu’artiste. Quik fait parti de ces artistes qui ont insufflé à la scène urbaine européenne toute l’énergie de la culture graffiti originelle. Son style déploie une image satirique presque arrogante. Bien que les toiles soulèvent des critiques socio-politiques fondamentales, elles sont également fortement autobiographiques. C'est dans cette interaction entre problématiques mondiales et personnelles, que l’oeuvre de Quik trouve toute sa profondeur. D'une part, il chante la douleur de l'homme noir à travers ses sprays de peinture, mais d'un autre côté il exprime une sorte de plaisir profondément érotique en adoptant une position outsider envers les femmes. L’artiste a été exposé dès 1983 à la Galerie Yaki Kornblit à Amsterdam et à la Stellweg/Seguy Gallery en 1984 à New York. Plus récemment Quik a été exposé au musée Groninger en 2022 dans une exposition collective des graffeurs de new-yorkais, au Artscience Museum à Singapore et à la Danysz gallery à Paris. Son travail se trouve dans les collections permanentes de musées comme Studio Museum de Harlem, au Musée de la Ville de New York ainsi qu’au musée de Groninguer aux Pays-Bas.
