(Chris Daze Ellis - American)

Born in 1961

Photo de profil de Daze.
Born in 1962 in Brooklyn, New York, Chris “Daze” Ellis is an American artist belonging to the Graffiti movement of the 1970’s - 1980’s. Rallying behind his comrades at the time such as Toxic, A-One or even Crash, he starts writing on train cars as young as 13 years old. Making his first marks in the gallery world at the Mudd Club in April of 1981 alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith haring and Lee Quinones, Daze is part of the street artists who has developed a highly personal universe on the canvas medium. His works can be seen in high end collections around the world such as those of the MoMa in New York or the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands.

« Voir ça, m’a vraiment inspiré. Quand j’ai vu ce train, je savais que ce n’était pas un acte hâtif. C’était planifié.»

« Le graffiti était une langue que les critiques voulaient apprendre au niveau superficiel ; ils ne voulaient pas la parler couramment »
